Nanahoshi-an is located in Kosuge, a small village nestled in the mountains, about 20 minutes by car from Iiyama Station, which is 1 hour and 40 minutes from Tokyo via the Hokuriku Shinkansen. The village exudes a nostalgic atmosphere where time seems to stand still. You can relax and enjoy a tranquil time, experiencing the traditional ambiance with its irori (hearth), doma (earthen floor), and high, vaulted ceilings.
Kosuge village is one of the three major sacred sites of Shugendo (mountain asceticism) in Kita-Shinano. It retains numerous cultural assets and historical landscapes, and is designated as a National Important Cultural Landscape. Nearby, you can enjoy various activities such as skiing, trekking, cycling, canoeing, and SUP on the mystical Lake Hokuryuko. Traditional Charm, Modern Comfort
Nanahoshi-an is a traditional house about 200 years old. It has been renovated to retain the structure of the kominka while incorporating modern comforts. The traditional atmosphere, including the vaulted ceiling, earthen floor (doma), hearth (irori), and wet veranda (nure-en), remains intact. The exhibition hall (doma/vaulted ceiling area) displays old daily life tools, such as the domino (straw body covering) and minogasa (straw raincoat and hat), creating an atmosphere that feels like time travel.
The kitchen is fully equipped with an IH stove, microwave, refrigerator, and rice cooker. The facility also features a modern-style bathroom, two Western-style toilets, and air conditioning, allowing nostalgia and convenience to coexist naturally. Wi-Fi is also provided, making it convenient for remote work.

Since the entire building is rented out, you can enjoy private time without worrying about others. It can be utilized for various situations: family trips, group retreats with friends, couples’ stays, workation, or corporate training.

Guided tours of Kosuge village by an active Yamabushi (mountain ascetic) can also be arranged. We can guide you to the ascent to the Okusha (inner shrine) of Kosuge Shrine near the summit of the sacred Mt. Kosuge, and to Lake Hokuryuko.
